The Truth Opens in Wedgewood-Houston With Event Jobs Starting at $20
NASHVILLE, TN — The Truth, the 4,400-capacity concert venue Live Nation and AJ Capital Partners built on Chestnut Street in Wedgewood-Houston, opened October 1 with a sold-out Miranda Lambert show. Behind every night on that stage sits a crew of security, door, bar, guest services and production workers, and Live Nation set base pay for its non-tipped roles at $20 an hour.
Nashville's newest music venue is open in WeHo, with Jack White, Sting and The Smashing Pumpkins on the October calendar and a part-time event staff that keeps the doors open.

A New Stage in Wedgewood-Houston
The Truth takes its name from Harlan Howard's old line about country songs being three chords and the truth, and the building leans into it. Three tiers keep every seat within about 150 feet of the stage, and the floor flips between standing room and fully seated shows. There is a mezzanine whiskey bar named Harlan's that pours from more than 30 Tennessee whiskey makers, a two-story listening lounge called the Vinyl Room built with neighbor United Record Pressing, and a lobby chandelier that projects lyrics.
It anchors Wedgewood Village, the mixed-use district AJ Capital has been assembling just south of downtown, a short hop from Fort Negley and the I-65 and I-40 split. When Live Nation first announced the project, it projected roughly 430 jobs supported each year and about $74 million in annual economic impact. That is a projection, not a payroll, and it counts activity around the venue, not just staff inside it. See the venue's official site for the full show calendar.
💼 The Jobs and What They Pay
Ahead of opening night, Live Nation said it needed more than 150 people and held a three-day job fair in late August at The Outfield, a few doors up Chestnut Street. The roles it named were event security, door staff, food and beverage, guest services, production and facilities. Base pay for non-tipped positions starts at $20 an hour, and bartending and server roles add tips on top.
Food and beverage hiring runs through Oak View Group, which posts the venue's food and beverage jobs, while the rest of the venue staff hires through Live Nation's careers portal, which the venue's own site points to. Neither company has published a fresh headcount since the doors opened, so treat the 150 figure as the opening target, not a count of seats still empty. Event crews do turn over, and a busy fall calendar is when they get topped up.
📋 How to Get on the Crew
- Check both portals. Live Nation for venue roles, Oak View Group for bar and concessions.
- Lead with your availability. Event shifts run nights and weekends. Say plainly which ones you can cover.
- Bring transferable experience. Broadway bar shifts, Bridgestone Arena or GEODIS Park event work, hotel front desk and retail loss prevention all translate.
